In 2010 Dutch hospitals received a one-off compensation of 600 million euro for the change in bookkeeping regulations leading to a faster depreciation of the buildings. This compensation was not included in the figures in order to maintain comparability with other years. Without the correction, Dutch health care expenditure in 2011 was up by 2.8 percent on 2010.
