Terms of trade deteriorated again

Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods deteriorated in October 2012 compared to October 2011. Prices of exported goods were 2.2 percent higher, prices of imported goods rose by 2.9 percent. October is the ninth month in a row, in which terms of trade deteriorated relative to one year previously. The deterioration was more substantial than in September.

Higher prices for petroleum derivatives contributed most to the increase in export prices. Import prices of petroleum products and crude oil were also higher than one year ago.
