Unemployment slightly up

After adjustment for seasonal effects, 519 thousand people in the Netherlands were unemployed in September, 5 thousand more than in August. This means that 6.6 percent of the Dutch labour force are now unemployed, the highest rate since the summer of 2005.

Unemployment rose particularly strongly among 45-64 year-olds. The unemployment rate for men was the same as in August, 6.5 percent, for women it rose to 6.7 percent.
