Work-related training

This includes training supported by the employer; i.e. the employer pays all or part of the fees for the training and makes it possible for employees to do the course(s) during working hours. Work-related training can be divided into two groups:

  • courses
  • other training activities such as attendance of conferences, workshops, lectures and  seminars; on-site training; home study; quality circles and organised group discussions; job rotation, job exchange, secondment and study visits.

The data are taken from the company training survey, which is conducted among companies in the private sector with ten or more employees. Similar surveys were held in the Netherlands in 1986, 1990, 1993, 1999 and 2005 with partly the same or similar questions. It is therefore possible to compare some of the results of the 2010 survey with those from previous surveys.
