Dutch manufacturers faced a 0.4 percent turnover loss in July 2012 relative to July 2011. Sales on the domestic market declined slightly, whereas turnover on the foreign market was marginally higher than one year previously. The working-day pattern was more favourable in July 2012 than in July 2011.The positive effect on sales is estimated at 1 percent.

The decline in manufacturing output was somewhat less substantial than in June. The difference would have been larger, if the working-day effect had been taken into account. Both months had a positive working-day effect, but the effect was much more substantial in June than in July.

Manufacturers of petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products achieved better turnover results than in July 2011. In the other branches, turnover declined compared to twelve months previously. The most substantial decline was recorded in the transport equipment sector.
