Life expectancy at birth and at the age of 65

Statistics Netherlands will publish two articles about male and female life expectancy on 6 September 2012. One article deals with life expectancy at birth, the other article with life expectancy at the age of 65. Life expectancy at birth and at the age of 65 are not exactly the same, because, if a person has reached the age of 65, the risk of dying at a younger age is no longer relevant.

For example, male life expectancy at birth was 79.3 years in 2011. Life expectancy for a 65-year-old man was 83.3 years in 2011.
