Transit trade and re-exports

Total exports can be divided into transit trade (about 15 percent), re-exports (about 37 percent) and exports of goods manufactured in the Netherlands (about 48 percent).
Transit trade refers to the passage of goods from one country to another through Dutch territory, but remain in foreign hands.
Re-exports refers to goods transported through the Netherlands, which are (temporarily) owned by a Dutch resident. These goods leave the country without any – or very little – processing. Unlike transit trade, re-exports are included in imports and exports.
