Persons with one or more COPD-related hospital admissions annually. The term hospital admission refers to in-patient as well as day-patient admissions, but day-patient hospital admissions are rare in the case of COPD. In more than 90 percent of cases, these are in-patient admissions. Out-patient treatments for COPD are not included.
Figures are standardised for age, i.e. adjusted for differences in the age distribution of the population over time. The standard is the population in the year 2000.
