Fewer bankruptcies

In June this year, 437 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt, 121 fewer than in May.

As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days the courts are in session, it may vary considerably from month to month. Therefore, the three-monthly moving average is a more reliable indicator.

The three-monthly moving average was 479 in June versus 514 in May. The number of bankruptcies has varied around 500 for almost a year now.

The figures published in this update have been adjusted from those published on 11 July 2011. The revision is based on new and more detailed information.
