Terms of trade hardly changed

The Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods hardly changed in January 2011 compared with January 2010. Prices of imported goods were 9.5 percent higher, prices of exported goods rose by 9.6 percent. In the three preceding months, the terms of trade had deteriorated compared with one year previously.

Higher prices for natural gas, petroleum derivatives, basic metals, chemical products and food products contributed most to the increase in export prices. Import prices of these products, as well as import prices for crude oil, were also much higher than one year previously.
