Terms of trade improve again

The Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods improved in November 2010 compared with November 2009. Prices of imported goods were 8.0 percent higher, prices of exported goods rose by 8.6 percent. November was the fourth month in a row in which terms of trade improved compared with one year previously. In November, the improvement was approximately as large as in the three preceding months.

Higher prices for natural gas, petroleum derivatives, basic metals, chemical products and food products contributed most to the increase in export prices. Import prices of these products were also much higher than one year previously, just as import prices of crude oil.
