The child budget is an income-dependent allowance for the costs of bringing up children and replaced the child allowance on 1 January 2009. The main difference with the former allowance is that the child budget also takes into account the number of children in the family. The child allowance was introduced 1 January 2008 to replace the tax rebate for families with children.
