Reporting and recording

In the Integrated Safety Monitor victims are asked whether they reported the last crime they were victim of in the last 12 months (yes, no, police discovered crime). If they reported it to the police, they were asked how (by telephone, at the police station, to a policeman in the street, online, other), whether they had signed a statement or other document, and what the main reason was to report the crime. Victims who did not report the offence were asked why not.

A crime is defined as reported if the victim says he or she reported it to the police. A crime is defined as recorded if it is reported online, or if a statement or other document is signed by the victim.
