Secondary education

Secondary education includes all publicly financed schools where pupils attend full-time education at secondary education level. Training colleges and special schools are excluded.
Because in Dutch secondary education, schools can provide education at vmbo (secondary general vocational education) leveland at havo/vwo level (higher general secondary/pre-university) level and because these different levels can also be taught in one comprehensive school, the figures of vmbo and havo/vwo do not add up to the total figure for secondary education.
