Business services providers expect turnover to increase

In October, the number of business service providers expecting their turnover to increase outnumbered those expecting a decline. Although the majority (+10 percent) was less distinct then in September (+20 percent), it was clearly larger then in the first eight months of this year. On balance, 29 percent of business service providers reported a decline in the turnover realised in the preceding three months,

Business service providers were more negative about future employment in their branch in October than in the preceding two months. On balance, 31 percent of them expected to have to cut back on staff in the three months to come. In September, 13 percent anticipated a decline. Temp agencies, providers of cleaning services and economic consultancy agencies were far more negative than last month.

Providers of business services indicated that the economic climate has deteriorated further over the past three months. The number of entrepreneurs reporting a deterioration was larger then in September. More than half of service providers indicate that lack of demand obstructs their activities.

Turnover in the sector business services can be affected by seasonal variation. The effects of seasonal variation have not been taken into account.
