Urbanisation rate

The number of addresses in a neighbourhood, district or municipality is defined as the average number of addresses per square kilometre within a circular area with a radius of one kilometre on 1 January of a particular year.

On the basis of the number of addresses, each neighbourhood, district or municipality is labelled with an urbanisation rate.
Urbanisation rates are classified as follows:
1: very high: 2,500 or more addresses per km2
2: high: 1,500–2,500 addresses per km2
3: moderately high: 1,000–1,500 addresses per km2
4: low: 500–1,000 addresses per km2
5: very low: fewer than 500 addresses per km2.
