In May 2004, the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) was introduced in the Netherlands. The EAW facilitates extradition throughout Europe. Not all EU countries have implemented the EAW. These countries as well as all non-EU member states follow the extradition procedure which prevailed prior to the introduction of the EAW.
