Disablement benefits

There are four schemes under which a disablement benefit can be claimed:
• Disablement benefits act (WAO)
• Disablement benefits act for young people (Wajong)
• Self-employed Persons Disablement Benefits Act (WAZ)
• Employment and income according to labour capacity act (WIA)

The WIA applies to employees who became ill on or after 1 January 2004, and replaces WAO, Wajong and WAZ. The WIA is only applicable for new claims.

The results referred to in this article are for benefits under all disablement schemes: 669 thousand WAO benefits, 151 thousand Wajong benefits, 50 thousand WAZ  benefits and 9 thousand WIA benefits.
