Services

Part-time businesses are concentrated in the personal and corporate services sector. There are fewer of them in the construction, hotel and restaurant, and transport sectors.

Mostly management consultancy

Most of the new companies (both conventional and part-time) are active in the field of management consultancy.

Systems engineering services and advertising agencies are also popular activities, both for conventional and part-time companies. Many conventional businesses on the other hand are active in the construction sector, while this branch is hardly represented at all among part-time companies.

Nearly one third of new part-time businesses in 2002 were active in management consultancy, beauty care, systems and program engineering, IT consultancy and advertising.

Conventional businesses started in 2002 showed a wider variety of activities: the five most popular activities of conventional businesses accounted for fewer than one a quarter of these businesses.

Part-time beauty care

In absolute terms, more part-time than conventional businesses were started in 2002 in the fields of beauty care, pedicure and manicure. Apparently these activities can be carried out very well on a part-time basis.
