Table description

This table provides data about the employment of employees and self-employed persons. It contains annual and quarterly data by sex on employed persons, jobs, and hours worked. The seasonal adjusted time series are also available in this table.

Data available from: 2010 first quarter

Status of the figures:
Data from 2010 up to and including 2018 are final. Data of 2019 and further are provisional.

Changes as of December 24th 2021:
Data of the second estimate of the third quarter 2021 have been added to the table.

In the Dutch Labour Accounts quarterly estimates of self-employed are based on the Labour Force Survey (LFS). At this moment the LFS is in a transitional phase to a new design. During this phase there are some difficulties that make the estimation of self-employed more complex and less reliable. Therefore, data on industry-level of the self-employed of the third quarter of 2021 will be postponed. Although also less reliable, self-employed (jobs, employed persons and hours worked) are published for the total of the Netherlands.

The expectation is that more reliable LFS results will be available during the flash estimate of the fourth quarter of 2021 (mid-February 2022) and that data on self-employed on industry-level will be published again. At that moment the former quarters will also be revised. That means that also the missing industry-level data (for self-employed) of the third quarter will be included. The revision of the second and third quarter of 2021 could be larger than usually.

When will new figures be published?
The preliminary estimate (flash estimate) of a quarter is released within 45 days. The second estimate is published after 85 days. At the second estimate of the fourth quarter, data of the previous three quarters will also be revised.
