Sick leave, including maternity leave.
The number of days an employee is absent due to illness as a percentage
of the total number of days in the quarter.
From 1 January 2002, regular maternity leave is no longer incorporated in
the Health Insurance Act. Illness related to pregnancy is still subject
to the Health Insurance Act. From the 1st quarter 2002, sick leave
including maternity leave should be interpreted as "Absence (due
to illness) as a result of maternity leave".
The figures refer to all businesses and institutions, excluding:
- public sector;
- persons employed in households;
- international institutions;
- enterprises and institutions without employees according to
Statistics Netherlands' general business register.
