This table contains provisional data on the number of deaths among the population of the Netherlands.
The data can be broken down by gender and age group.
Data available from: 1995
Status of the figures:
The figures for the years 1995 to 2020 inclusive are final.
The figures for 2021 and 2022 are provisional. These figures may change with each renewal of the publication due to the fact that death registrations received later are still included. As this method is different from the method used for monthly mortality figures, minor discrepancies may occur.
Changes as of 20 May 2022:
Provisional figures of week 18 and 19 of 2022 have been added.
The provisional figures of week 19 of 2022 are estimated. This estimate is based on the number of death reports that CBS has received so far for week 19.
When will new figures be published?
Every week, provisional figures over the previous week are included in this publication.
- Number of deceased persons who were counted among the population of the Netherlands.
Person confirmed dead by an authorised medical practitioner by the signing of a death certificate.
The total number of people residing in a given area.
Only persons recorded in the population register of a Dutch municipality are included in the population. In principle, every person who lives in the Netherlands for an indefinite period is included in the population register of the municipality. Persons belonging to the population of the Netherlands for whom no permanent place of residence can be designated, are included in the population register of the municipality of The Hague. The population registers do not include the persons living in the Netherlands to whom exemption rules apply with regard to inclusion in the population registers (for example diplomats and NATO military personnel) and persons without legal residence in the Netherlands.
