Other urban neighbourhoods

These are neighbourhoods in cities that do fall under the government’s official urban policy, but which are not designated deprived neighbourhoods. The urban policy was launched in 1995 and aims to improve quality of life, safety and the economic vitality of the larger cities in the Netherlands. When it started it included 25 cities, today it includes 31:
Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Tilburg, Groningen, Breda, Nijmegen, Enschede, Haarlem, Arnhem, Zaanstad, Amersfoort, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Dordrecht, Maastricht, Zwolle, Leiden, Emmen, Deventer, Sittard-Geleen, Leeuwarden, Alkmaar, Venlo, Heerlen, Helmond, Hengelo, Schiedam, Lelystad and Almelo.
