Statistics Netherlands establishes size of Saba and St Eustatius economies for the first time

According to figures released today by Statistics Netherlands, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Saba was just over 43 million US dollars in 2012, for St Eustatius it was 102 million dollars. This is the equivalent of 21,900 dollars per capita for Saba and 26,400 dollars for St Eustatius, two of the Windward Islands making up the Caribbean Netherlands. It is the first time that GDP has been calculated for Saba and St Eustatius separately; up to now the figures for these islands were calculated together with that for St Maarten, a much larger island. Figures for Bonaire were published earlier this year by Statistics Netherlands. Per capita GDP on Bonaire was also 21,900 USD in 2012.
