Statistics Netherlands provides figures on goods imports from and exports to the main trading partners of the Netherlands. The data are based on the direct observation of importing and exporting companies.
Detailed figures on the goods trade with the rest of the world become available each month. They are categorised by commodity group and are published at an aggregated level. Although the data at the most detailed level (commodity type) are published, they must be used with care, as they are based only on response received and have not been corrected for non-response and missing data. It is very likely that many figures are underestimated.
Monthly figures are also available at the aggregated level based on the Standard International Trade Classification and the Harmonised System.
Statistics Netherlands publishes indices of value, volume and prices of imported and exported goods. Values and volumes are actually measured, while prices are calculated by dividing value by volume.
Re-exports
Re-exports account for a major part of exports. Re-exported goods are goods imported into the Netherlands which leave the country again virtually unchanged.
