This is the highest score for producers’ confidence among manufacturers since February 2001. The confidence indicator has been increasing since the low point of the present business cycle in June 2003.

The production per working day was 1 percent down on March 2003, whereas turnover per working day was 1 percent up on last year. For the first time in fifteen months production was above last year’s level. When the calendar effects are taken into account, turnover was also higher than the year before.

In November 2003 the turnover of the Dutch manufacturing industry was down 5 percent on November 2002. This is mainly because there was one working day less in November 2003 than in 2002.
