Remaining life expectancy

The remaining life expectancy is the number of years someone of this age can expect to live if the age-specific mortality risks in the survey year remain the same.

For example, the graph shows that in 2011 an average 40 year-old man could expect to live for another 40.7 years if the age-specific mortality risks observed in 2011 remain the same for the rest of his life.
