Job numbers plummet

Economy shows slight recovery

13-11-2009Economic monitor The Dutch economy shrank by 3.7percent in the third quarter of 2009 compared with the same period in 2008. The decrease is much smaller than in the first two quarters of 2009. Compared with the previous quarter, the economy grew by 0.4 percent in the third quarter after adjustment for calendar and seasonal effects.

Economic contraction of 5.4 percent

24-09-2009Economic monitor The Dutch economy contracted by 5.4 percent in the second quarter of 2009 relative to the same period in 2008. In the first quarter, the downturn was 4.5 percent.

Fewer hours worked in temp jobs

28-08-2009Economic monitor The number of hours worked in temp jobs dropped by 6 percent in the second quarter of 2009 compared to the first quarter.

Number of job vacancies down further

13-08-2009Economic monitor After correction for seasonal effects, 127 thousands jobs were vacant by the end of June 2009, i.e. 25 thousand less than at the end of March 2009. This decrease is smaller than in the two preceding quarters, when the number of vacancies dropped by nearly 50 thousand a quarter.
