Analysis April:
The economic situation at the end of April was about as poor as at the end of March. Improvements en deteriorations almost balanced each other out. The heart of the scatter in the Business Cycle Tracer is located deep in the recession stage. All indicators except exports are currently below their long-term average.
In the course of April, new data have become available for all monthly indicators. As a result of the new information, the distribution of the indicators across and within the quadrants has changed. There were no new data on quarterly indicators.
Three indicators moved to other quadrants. Consumer confidence moved from the red to the yellow quadrant. The trend for this indicator shifted from downwards to upwards, but the indicator is still performing below its own long-term average. Producer confidence moved back from the yellow to the red quadrant. Exports just crossed the line separating the green from the orange quadrant. The trend for producer confidence and exports reversed from upwards to downwards, but exports is still performing better than its long-term average.
At the end of April, the heart of the scatter in the Tracer is located in the red quadrant (indicating recession). Twelve of the fifteen indicators are in the red quadrant, two in the yellow and one indicator (exports) is in the orange quadrant. The growth rate of indicators in the red quadrant is below their long-term average and slowing down. The growth rate of indicators in the yellow quadrant is also below their long-term average, but increasing. The growth rate of the indicators in the green quadrant is above their long-term average and increasing. The growth rate of indicators located in the orange quadrant is also above their long-term average, but slowing down.

The BCT indicator shows the cycle of the heart of the scatter in the Tracer.
