Residential property prices more than 4 percent down from one year previously

Prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings were on average 4.1 percent lower in September 2013 than in September  2012. The price drop is less substantial than in the preceding month, when house prices fell by 4.4 percent. The index – a joint publication by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry Office – reflects price changes of existing owner-occupied dwellings in the Netherlands.

Prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings were at the same level in September 2013 as in early 2003. They were 19.6 percent below the record level registered in August 2008. 

In the first nine months of this year, a total of 74,126 house sales were registered, i.e. 9.1 percent below the level of the first nine months of 2012, but in each month of the third quarter of 2013 house sales were above the level of the same month last year.
