Figures on the number of income support benefits published by Statistics Netherlands on 8 July 2005 were incorrect. The number of income support benefits did not rise substantially in the first quarter of 2005 but remained more or less stable at 337 thousand.
Changes in the statistics on income support benefits have initially been processed incorrectly. As from January 2005, only benefits are taken into account which have actually been registered in that particular month. Until then, delayed information on benefits was also dealt with. In addition, some changes were realised in the way municipalities supply data to Statistics Netherlands.
