Privacy statement

Statistics Netherlands collects and processes personal information. It collects information in the following ways:
- information on visitors to the website is collected if these visitors choose to supply this information. Statistics Netherlands collects this information to improve customer service via the website.
- on the basis of legally defined procedures and regulations, Statistic Netherlands conducts personal surveys for statistical and scientific research purposes.

Statistics Netherlands’ website and your personal details

For each visit to Statistics Netherlands’ website, standard information is generated and stored for each page requested: the date and time of the request, the user’s IP address and browser. These details are only used to customise the website to the needs of users and improve the quality of its services.

Cookies are only used for usability reasons. If you object to the use of cookies, you can disable them in your browser.

User information

When you supply personal information to Statistics Netherlands via e-mail or web forms, this is only collected and used for the purposes for which you provide it and for internal quality surveys to measure the level of service provision by Statistics Netherlands.

Data protection act

Statistics Netherlands acts in accordance with the Dutch data protection act (Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens) in its use of personal details. Among other things this implies that personal details may only be used if the person to which they refer is explicitly informed of this use. However, personal details may be used to trace a user if a criminal offence is committed, or if criminal statements or comments are made via the website, and in other exceptional cases as laid down in Section 43 of the above-mentioned Act.

Personal details

Personal details are defined as information that can be used to identify a natural person; i.e. if the name of the person to which the information refers can be traced. Examples of such information are: name, address and e-mail address.
