Tourist tax

Tourist tax allows Dutch municipalities to impose taxes on non-residents during their stay in the municipality.
Tourist tax revenue is transferred to the public funds of the municipality. This means that municipal authorities are not obliged to use tourist tax revenue to invest in tourism or to improve tourist facilities, although the local council can decide to do so.
