Provincial roads

Provinces are responsible for nearly 8 thousand km (6 percent) of the total Dutch road system with an overall length of 137 thousand km; 5 thousand km is managed by the central government and 124 thousand km by municipal and district water board authorities. Provincial roads constitute a small but vital part of the entire Dutch road network to connect regions to national trunk roads.
