Renewable energy
Renewable energy is energy from wind, hydro power, the sun, the earth, aerothermal heat and biomass. This energy comes from natural processes which are constantly replenished. Therefore, fossil and nuclear energy are not covered by renewable energy.
Explanation:
Also sustainable energy is often used to define energy from wind, hydro power, the sun, the earth, aerothermal heat and biomass. The concept sustainable is also used in a broader context, referring to social and economic factors. Apart from that there is also discussion about the sustainability of using certain forms of biomass. The concept of sustainable therfeore is not unambigious. Therefore, from July 2010 on-wards Statistics Netherlands is using the concept renewable energy instead of sustainable energy.
